October 2006
Weekend in Glasgow which included a talk on Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928, one of the most celebrated architects of his generation) followed by a visit to Mackintosh House. Members viewed several examples of his work including the Willow Tea Rooms, Martyrs Public School, Scotland Street School museum, the Glasgow School of Art and the Mackintosh designed House for An Art Lover in Bellahouston Park.

May 2007
A three day, mid-week visit to the Scottish Borders and Northumbria, stopping for a guided tour of Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire en route to our accommodation in Kelso. Hume Castle, Paxton House (a fine example of 18th century Palladian style architecture) and Dryburgh Abbey were visited on Wednesday. An early start on Thursday allowed time to spend several hours at the magnificent Alnwick Castle and Gardens before heading back to the Midlands.

November and December 2007
Visit to the Terracotta Army exhibition at the British Museum in London.


March 2008
Special Interest Day: Kings & Queens of Clubs and Modern Golf from 1850. A talk on ‘The history of the Royal and Ancient Game of Golf’ was held at Edgbaston Golf Club.
July 2008
A day in Bath, with the morning spent at the fascinating American Museum and the afternoon free for individual exploration in the city centre.


October 2008
Visit to the magnificent, half-timbered Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton to admire splendid examples of the Arts and Crafts Movement and Pre-Raphaelite art.
